How to Find Words From Letters
Finding words from letters is the core of what a word unscrambler does. You provide a set of letters, and the tool returns every valid English word that can be spelled using those letters. Each letter can only be used as many times as it appears in your input, so entering APPLE (which has two Ps) allows words with up to two Ps.
The results are grouped by word length and can be sorted by length, alphabetical order, or Scrabble-style score. Use the filters to narrow results: set a specific word length, require words to start with or end with certain letters, require specific letters to be included, or exclude letters you do not want.
Strategies for Finding More Words
- Start with vowels: Identify A, E, I, O, U, and Y. Most words need at least one.
- Look for common pairs: TH, CH, SH, QU, CK, and NG appear in many words.
- Try prefixes and suffixes: RE-, UN-, IN-, -ING, -ED, -ER, and -LY can extend shorter words.
- Use wildcards: Enter ? or _ for blank tiles to discover more possibilities.
- Sort by score: If you play tile-based games, sorting by Scrabble score helps you find the best plays.
