What Is Word Unscrambler?
Word Unscrambler is a free, browser-based utility for finding words from scrambled letters. It helps you unscramble letters, solve anagrams, find words by length, and discover words for word games and puzzles. The tool runs entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server, and no account or signup is required.
How It Works
The tool uses a dictionary of over 270,000 English words. When you enter letters, it checks each word in the dictionary to see if it can be spelled using only the letters you provided, without using any letter more times than it appears in your input. Wildcards (? or _) can represent any letter, and filters let you narrow results by length, starting letter, ending letter, contained letters, and more.
All processing happens client-side using a web worker, which means the search runs in a background thread and keeps the page responsive even with large inputs. No data leaves your device.
Privacy
Your privacy is important. Because all processing happens in your browser, the letters you enter never leave your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your search queries. Read our privacy policy for details.
No Account Required
There is no account, registration, or login. The tool is free to use without any limitations. You can unscramble as many words as you want, as often as you want.
Dictionary Source
Our word list comes from an open-source, MIT-licensed English word dictionary. For full details about the dictionary source and license, visit our data sources page.
Limitations
- The tool supports up to 20 letters in a single search.
- Up to 3 wildcards can be used at once.
- The dictionary contains standard English words but may not include every proper noun, brand name, or specialized term.
- Definitions are not provided for every word.
- The tool is not affiliated with any word game publisher.
